“let me know what education means to you as part of the hiphop generation”
your blog gives me pause to reflect on the power of hiphop as it elevated something that was deep inside of me, the need to identify with peoples’ experiences all over to get a picture of the world i live in, the need to listen deeply and carefully to another’s story, to know what was wrong so that i could try to make it right.
amil once said something to the effect that hiphop gave him the ability to know what was going on in any given city because he could listen to someone from that city speak about the world he was living and the news that was happening there even down to the street name and corner.
for me, that was enlightening because there was so many places i had never been and so many people that i had never met, so hiphop allowed me to travel far and meet so many.
